Because, let's face it, folks,

we'll never be together again after this.

and we're free to walk around and rub elbows with

these lucky white stand-ins for the tardy stars.

Why, of course, we could be extras here ourselves!

And look, there's the strange moment before the MIRROR,

the gruesome all-nighter around the KITCHEN TABLE,

the DOORWAY where she threw him that funny look

that stayed with him his first weeks off in the army.

At last we'll get to see the backsides of everything,

and find out maybe what really was going on

—no poverty so poor it has no secrets!

And so, having these scenes for our inspection, at

our disposition, is sexy, exciting;

here's fame and nostalgia and something else precious:

seeing the machinery and yet not losing

the illusion …
